Shake it off: Why your body needs more than just “talk therapy.”

I know, Beautiful Human. Usually, you expect a psychologist to offer a quiet weekly session to talk it out.

But here’s the truth: Healing that only happens from the neck up is only half the story.

In my sessions, we do more than just talk…I help you tune into your body and emotions to integrate and heal your whole being.

Our bodies have a lot of wisdom to share about how to heal; we need to learn to listen and help the emotions move through us.

My favorite way to do that is to dance it out!

The Science of Shaking It Off

If you’re wondering why I’m so obsessed with getting you on the dance floor, it’s because the research is practically screaming, “Movement is medicine.”

Researchers have found that the combination of rhythm and movement releases a neurobiological response that:

Picture
  • Acts as a natural antidepressant
  • Helps to regulate our nervous systems
  • Lowers cortisol
  • Taps into a state of flow similar to the effects of deep meditation
  • Boosts brain plasticity.
  • Allows us to feel more connected to our bodies
  • Significantly reduces anxiety
  • Moves the energy that "talking" sometimes can't reach.
Ultimately, your body knows how to heal itself; sometimes it just needs a bassline to get started!

Introducing Convergence

I’m so excited to bring Convergence to our community. It’s the Saturday night experience I’ve been waiting for.  And quite frankly, we need this right now.

Convergence isn’t a club, and it’s not a workout class. It’s a conscious, substance-free, barefoot journey. It’s a spinoff of the original Ecstatic Dance movement.  And we’re moving to Hip Hop, Reggaeton, Afrobeats, and House, all music that hits your soul and makes your feet move before your brain can even process it.

What makes Convergence Different?

We skip the small talk on the dance floor and use our body language to communicate.  This creates a deep, safe sense of community and allows us to show up authentically with no judgement.

This is a safe space centering Queer & BIPOC folks and welcoming all allies. Every body, every gender expression, and every age is celebrated.

We have a high-energy main floor, but also a quiet room for stretching, resting, and just being.

Let’s Dance Together!

I’m officially inviting you! Convergence is your chance to kick off your shoes, turn off your phone, and leave your overthinking at the door.

Whether you’re there for a deep emotional release or just to lose your mind to a bassline, there is a place for you here. Let’s celebrate the wild, messy joy of being fully alive.

And if you want to slow down, we have a spot for you, too!
